Welcome to Latin at Oliver Ames High School!

This webpage features links to each Latin class at OA as well as the Latin trip to Italy in April of 2021 and our fantastic Latin Club. 

Latin was the dominant language of the western world for over a thousand years. It is beautiful, complex, and the basis for over 2/3 of the vocabulary in the English language. Students who study Latin generally score significantly higher on SAT/ACT exams, have a better grasp of reading comprehension and written expression, and are able to apply both deductive and inductive critical study skills with ease. In short, they learn the classical standards of expression, communication, and culture, which serve as the basis for the modern world.
